Women's tennis ends fall season with loss to Moravian

KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- The Kutztown University women's tennis team got to play a match on its home courts for the first time this season but fell to Moravian University, 6-1, Wednesday afternoon.

Freshman Ashlyn Phy (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) improved to 2-0 in singles play this fall with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Madi Schottman at No. 6, to account for Kutztown's only point of the match.

The Golden Bears' (2-2) top flight player, Isabela de Nadai (Vitoria, Brazil/St. Paul's School), rallied from a set down to force a super tiebreaker against Leah Zolotareva in a 6-1, 2-6, 10-2 setback.

Moravian, which went 17-4 a season ago and fell in the Landmark Conference (NCAA Division III) championship match, won singles matches at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 in straight sets.

The Greyhounds (3-0) swept doubles, dropping just three games total across the three flights.

Kutztown will resume its schedule in 2026 when it travels to California (Pa.) on March 17.
