KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The defending national champion Kutztown field hockey team enters the 2024 regular season with a ton of positive momentum, as it sits on top of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference preseason poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Â
The Golden Bears, who finished last season with a program-record 19 wins and their first national championship, received eight of the potential 10 first place votes.
Â
Kutztown leads the field, followed by reigning PSAC champions East Stroudsburg, which received one first place vote, and then conference runners-up, Shippensburg, which also tallied a first place vote. West Chester and Bloomsburg round out the top-five, followed by Millersville, Mansfield, IUP, Frostburg State and Slippery Rock. The Bobcats have joined the PSAC for the first time this season for field hockey.
Â
The title defense for KU begins on Thursday, Sept. 5, with a home game against Saint Anselm at 3 p.m., from Andre Reed Stadium.
