KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown women's basketball rose three positions from last year and was ranked 16th among all NCAA Division II schools when the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) released its Academic Top 25 Team Honor Rolls Wednesday.
The Golden Bears recorded a 3.718 team GPA, just higher than last year's 3.701 GPA that had them ranked 19th.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2023-24 season is the 29th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
"The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women's basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom," WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew says. "The 112 teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success and we commend their efforts. Congratulations!"
Kutztown finished last season 15-15 overall and 12-10 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, winning a postseason game along the way. There were 10 members of the team that earned PSAC Scholar-Athlete recognition earlier this month.
