SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. –
Jaiden McGhee (Townsend, Del./Middletown),
Brent Ricketts Jr. (Seaford, Del./Seaford) and
Yahmir Satterfield (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) scored 77% of the Kutztown men's basketball points as the trio paced the offense, each in double figures, as KU was downed 88-62 Saturday afternoon at Shepherd in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Divisional game and the season finale for KU.
Â
The Golden Bears (4-24 overall, 3-19), a young and mostly inexperienced team all season, should be primed for more in 2024-25 with no seniors currently graduating on the roster.
Â
Ricketts Jr. finished with 18 points, McGhee tallied 17 points and five rebounds and Satterfield recorded 13 points and four rebounds.
Â
KU opened the game scoring the first five points thanks to a Ricketts Jr. 3-pointer and jump shot in the opening 2:06 to go up 5-0. The Maroon and Gold took their largest lead of the game of seven (20-13) after a 3-pointer by
Ryan Glassmacher (Stewartsville, N.J./Bethlehem Catholic (Pa.)) 10:10 into the first half, but the Rams (13-14, 10-12) went on a 20-4 run the final 9:50 to go into halftime leading 33-24. They staked their advantage to double digits just 0:29 in following a shot from long distance and consistently remained there the rest of the way.
Â
Amir Cunningham (Middletown, Del./Middletown) contributed five points and five rebounds and each of Glassmacher,
Juju Pagan (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) and
Kameron Roberts (Townsend, Del./Middletown) added three points.
Â
Kutztown's 2023-24 season comes to a close. Without any unexpected departures, KU is set to return the majority of its roster for next season. Having a predominantly freshmen and sophomore-laden lineup throughout the season, the Golden Bears will be more experienced heading into 2024-25.
