MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – For the first time during this week of games down south, the Kutztown softball team was unable to record a victory in a double header at a Florida school as KU was downed by Barry 1-0 in eight innings in the opener and 9-3 in the nightcap Wednesday in Miami Shores, Fla.
Â
The Golden Bears (12-5 overall) finished up day three of a four-day stretch of eight games in the sunshine state on their spring break trip. Prior to Wednesday, the Maroon and Gold were 3-1, splitting two games at Palm Beach Atlantic Monday night and sweeping Lynn Tuesday afternoon.
Â
KU outhit Barry 5-2 in game one, but the Buccaneers final hit was an all-important one, a run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth inning for the only run of the game and a walk-off victory. Barry reached double figures in hits in game two and doubled up Kutztown 10-5.
Â
Emily Henn (Matamoras, Pa./Delaware Valley) finished with three hits, including a triple, scored two runs and added an RBI on the day.

Â
Haley Gravish (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) started inside the circle in game one and threw a gem, outside of one-half inning. Gravish gave up a single in the bottom of the first inning, which was the only other hit outside of the game-winner in the eighth.
