PEMBROKE, N.C. – Kutztown softball used a 14-run, second inning to finish off its time down south in the UNC Pembroke Invitational by defeating Felician 15-1 in five innings Sunday afternoon to conclude its trip 4-0.

The Golden Bears (4-0 overall) won all four games in Pembroke and outscored their opponents 40-4. It was the second time they beat the Golden Falcons, also winning 9-0 in five innings this past Friday. KU scored the most runs in a game since March 29, 2022, when it also scored 15 in a win against Jefferson.

After a scoreless opening frame, Kutztown went through its lineup two entire times and then into a third rotation in the second inning, bringing 14 runners across home plate for the highest scoring inning in over a decade.

Brianna Stocklin (Deptford, N.J./Deptford Township),
Brianna Hughes (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland),
Kristin Geesey (Bainbridge, Pa./Elizabethtown),
Naya Darnowski (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Township) and
Alexa Stevens (Covington Township, Pa./North Pocono) all finished with two hits in the game. Stocklin, Geesey and Stevens each recorded three RBIs. Stocklin, Hughes, Geesey, Darnowski, Stevens and
Morgan Slomkowski (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) all scored two runs.

Haley Gravish (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) started the game inside the circle and threw two innings, allowing just one hit and one earned run, striking out two to earn her second victory on the weekend.
Amanda Slabicki (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) finished the final three innings and did not allow a hit, while striking out three batters.

Kutztown has two weeks off an is next in action at the Raines Company Softball Classic, hosted by Francis Merion University in Florence, S.C., beginning Saturday, Feb. 17, and running until Sunday, Feb. 18.
