KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown women's volleyball entered Friday night 1-0 during the week, but suffered its first defeat of the week to Shippensburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division match, falling 3-0 at Keystone Arena.
Scores of the match were 19-25, 15-25 and 22-25.
After winning their first match of the 2024 regular season their last time on the Keystone Arena floor this past Monday night against Caldwell, the Golden Bears (1-14 overall, 0-2 PSAC East) could not keep the momentum and win streak going as the Raiders (5-9, 1-1) left with the victory, their first in conference play.
The Maroon and Gold entered Friday with an average hit percentage of 0.067% through 14 matches, but they had nearly half of that (0.038%) at the end of the match, while Shippensburg finished with a 0.165 hit percentage.
Grace White (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) finished with a team-high eight kills and had one block.
Sarah Hess (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) tallied seven kills, four digs, two assists and one block.
Christina Lockett (Gaithersburg, Md./Tuscarora) and
Bryanna Carter (Abingdon, Md./Edgewood) both recorded four kills with the latter adding three digs.
Emma Baldridge (Damascus, Md./Damascus) contributed 12 assists and six digs.
Saige Thibodeaux (Cape Coral, Fla./Ida S. Baker) notched 10 assists and seven digs.
Lexi McLanahan (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area) led the defense with 17 digs.
