KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown women's volleyball took Shepherd to four sets, but could not complete the comeback after trailing 2-0 and fell for the second time in as many days Saturday evening in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division match inside Keystone Arena.
Â
Scores of the match were 18-25, 19-25, 25-19 and 20-25.
Â
The Golden Bears (1-15 overall, 0-3 PSAC East) found themselves in a hole early after dropping the first two sets, but did not want to go winless when it came to overall sets this weekend, after they were swept by Shippensburg Friday night.
Emma Stalsitz (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) came up clutch and delivered three consecutive service aces to finish off the match. KU led just 21-19 before a kill by Hess sparked the final 4-0 run.
Â
Hess finished with a team-best 16 kills and 3.5 blocks.
Macy Shewmake (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) recorded seven kills, three digs, two assists and 1.5 blocks.
Grace White (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) and
Bryanna Carter (Abingdon, Md./Edgewood) each tallied five kills with the latter adding eight digs.
Emma Baldridge (Damascus, Md./Damascus) and
Saige Thibodeaux (Cape Coral, Fla./Ida S. Baker) combined for 31 assists and 20 digs.
Lexi McLanahan (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area) contributed 10 digs and two assists.
Â
Kutztown has the week off before welcoming two more East teams for conference matches next weekend. KU will take on Lock Haven next Friday, Oct. 11, for a 6 p.m., match and then will host Bloomsburg the following evening at 4 p.m., both from Keystone Arena.
