KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown men's tennis made it a clean sweep against Eastern Wednesday afternoon at Keystone Courts, winning 7-0, and finishing the fall season unbeaten.
The Golden Bears went 6-0 this fall.
The No. 2 doubles team in the lineup, consisting of
Emmitt Robinson (Ingersoll, Ontario/Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute) and
Linus Vennekold (Laatzen, Germany) were first to finish and won 6-0.
Raphael Hoareau Lebon (Saint-Joseph, Réunion) and
Lucas Cherniak (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Escuela Superior de Comercio Carlos Pellegrini) took care of business at No. 3 double with a 6-1 score and
Joaquin Perez (Pachuca, Mexico/Escuela Americana) along with
Nikita Safonov (Podolsk, Russia) secured the point for KU with a 6-2 victory at No. 1.
Robinson, Hoareau Lebon and
Luis Lopes (Piracicaba, Brazil/Colegio Saber) all recorded singles wins of 6-0, 6-0.
Dang Nguyen (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam/) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 1 singles.
Henrique Rocha (Jaticua, Brazil/Escola SEB Maceio) tallied a 6-1, 6-4 winner at No. 2 and Cherniak won 6-2, 6-0 to round out the lineup.
Kutztown will now head into the winter offseason with some positive momentum. KU will next take to the court in a competitive match on Saturday, March 1, against Dickinson at 1:30 p.m., from the Hershey Raquet Club in Hershey.
