LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Kutztown Golden Bears showed up and showed out, overpowering Lock Haven 2-0 on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Kutztown not only secured their second consecutive shutout but also claimed their fifth win in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) this season. The Bears were an unstoppable force on the field, controlling the tempo from start to finish.
From the very first whistle, Kutztown came out hungry. At the 15:38 mark of the first quarter,
Isabella Rossetti (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) took control, skillfully maneuvering around defenders with ease. After a 40-yard goal kick and a flurry of head-butt attempts, Rossetti snatched an opportunity. Racing from the 30-yard line past a sea of defenders, she launched herself into a powerful slide, sending the ball flying into the net.
Rossetti wasn't done yet. As the second half ticked away, she found herself in the mix again, this time after a chaotic corner kick that deflected off heads and bodies. The ball hit the ground, and Rossetti pounced. With precision and power, she slotted the ball between two defenders, securing her second goal of the game. This marked her seventh goal of the season, 20th career goal, and brought her career points to 45—just five points away from the coveted 50-point milestone.
Highlighting the team's scoring prowess, Rossetti is making waves on the PSAC shots leaderboard, sitting at #3 with her impressive seven goals this season. Teammate
Corinne Morgan (Port Republic, N.J./Cedar Creek) is not far behind, ranking #8 with five goals.
As the offense lit up the scoreboard, the Golden Bears' defense shut down Lock Haven. Kutztown held their opponents to zero shots on goal and zero corner kicks, a testament to their complete control of the game. On the other side, the Golden Bears peppered the Lock Haven defense with thirteen shots and nine corner kicks, keeping the pressure high all game long.
Kutztown's momentum continues as they look ahead to their next showdown against Millersville on Wednesday, October 16, at 7:00 PM under the lights at Keystone Field.
