KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown women's basketball fell behind early and could not climb out of its deficit as KU dropped its first game in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division action and its first home game of 2024, falling to first-place Lock Haven, 64-49, Wednesday night inside Keystone Arena.
The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for the Golden Bears (6-8 overall, 4-4 PSAC), all in conference play. The Bald Eagles (13-1, 8-0), on the other hand, have now won 13 in-a-row.
Three members of the Maroon and Gold finished in double figures in scoring, led by 15 points from
Casey Remolde (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy), who also grabbed five rebounds.
Zara Zerman (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) finished with 13 points and
Naia Pulliam (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) contributed 11.
Kutztown played from behind most of the contest, trailing 15-8 after the opening frame and then 27-19 at halftime. Lock Haven was able to extend its advantage into double figures in the third quarter and went on top by as many as 13 points, leading 45-32 heading into the fourth quarter. The advantage remained in double digits for a majority of the final period.
Kutztown will remain at home for the second of three games in-a-row when it welcomes Shippensburg to Keystone Arena for an Eastern Divisional game this Saturday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m.
