LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Junior
Bridget Curtis (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) picked a good time to score her first goal of 2023 and just second of her career. The defender slotted home a pass from
Katelyn Economopoulos (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) in the 51st minute to break a 1-1 tie and second fifth-ranked Kutztown women's soccer to a 2-1 victory over Lock Haven Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on the road.
The Golden Bears (3-0-1 overall, 2-0 PSAC) remain undefeated and have won three games in-a-row, all by the score of 2-1.
Lexy Endres (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) scored in the first half, her conference-leading fifth goal of the season to put her team ahead 1-0. Endres' goal came in the 26th minute to open the scoring in the game. But the Bald Eagles answered almost eight minutes later on a high shot that snuck into the upper corner to tie the game and send the teams to halftime at 1-1.
Curtis then put her team back on top just 5:28 out of the intermission with a low-driving shot off of a pass from Economopoulos. It was the first goal of the season for the junior defender and just the second of her career.
Cassandra Baker (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) finished with three saves in goal.
Kutztown has its second road PSAC contest in-a-row when it travels to take on defending PSAC champion and rival No. 13 West Chester on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m.
