No. 7 Golden Bears, Huskies battle to scoreless draw

KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- The seventh-ranked Kutztown University women's soccer team (6-0-3, 5-0-2 PSAC East) earned its third clean sheet of the season, battling to a 0-0 draw against the Huskies of Bloomsburg (2-3-3, 2-2-2 PSAC East) Wednesday night at Keystone Field.

Similar to last season, there was very little separating the two squads in what ended up being another defensive battle. The Golden Bears have only allowed six goals against in eight games, which is the fourth-best in the PSAC. The Huskies also boast a spectacular defense that has allowed four goals all season.

Despite not finding the back of the net, the Golden Bears had the better chances in the game. KU outshot Bloomsburg 10-5, with a 7-2 shots on-goal advantage. The Huskies ended the night with a slight edge in corners (8-5). The majority of KU's chances came in the first half, forcing five saves out of the Huskies' goalie.

Caroline McDonald (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East), Isabella Rossetti (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East), and Katelyn Economopoulos (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) all registered two shots on goal in the contest, with Skyler Jordan (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) having one. Cassandra Baker (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) made two saves in between the sticks for KU, while Riley Springler made seven for the Huskies.

The Golden Bears are back in action at Keystone Field on Saturday, Sept. 30 against Mansfield. That game will kick off at 1 p.m.
