KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- Kutztown University defensive back CJ Brown (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) has been named to the D2Football.com Elite 100 Watch List Second Team, the organization recently announced.

Brown, a graduate student from Coatesville, is the only Golden Bear on the list and one of four players from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) recognized.

A 2022 All-PSAC East First Team selection, Brown set new career-highs in total tackles (44), solo tackles (23) and assisted tackles (21). An increase in responsibilities within Kutztown's secondary also came with 1.5 tackles for loss, an interception, five passes defended and three forced fumbles in 11 games.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Brown redshirted as a freshman in 2019 before having his 2020 campaign wiped out due to the pandemic. He has played in 23 games over the last two seasons, including 12 during KU's run to PSAC East and PSAC championships and a spot in the national quarterfinals in 2021.

Kutztown kicks off its 2023 season Saturday, Sept. 2, at No. 23 Assumption.
