Women's bowling season ends one win shy of ECC championship match

| By:
CORAM, N.Y. -- Kutztown won the opening game, but ultimately could not avenge Saturday's defeat to Molloy. The Lions won four consecutive games to defeat the Golden Bears, 4-1, and move on to the East Coast Conference championship match Sunday morning at Coram Country Lanes.

KU's lineup of Ally Sipe (York, Pa./Central York), Rachel Wagner (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Depew), Megan Hanaway (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township), Madison Brenneman (York, Pa./Central York) and Chloe Sromovski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial) took game one by a 178-167 score, but Molloy evened the best-of-seven series with a 192-137 victory in game two and never looked back.

The Lions won the next three games by 21 pins or more, denying the Golden Bears of their first championship match appearance since the inaugural ECC Championship tournament back in 2016 when they finished runner-up.

Molloy advances to face top-seeded and 14th-ranked Mercyhurst in Sunday's championship mega match.

Kutztown, which featured two All-ECC bowlers this year in Sromovski (First Team) and Hanaway (Second Team), finishes the season 51-35 overall, having reached the 50-win mark for the 13th time in 15 seasons.
