KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown women's basketball tied a program record with three members selected to the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division teams.
Naia Pulliam (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth),
Abbey Hearn (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) and
Casey Remolde (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) were voted All-PSAC by the league's head coaches, announced Thursday.
Â
Pulliam earned a First Team nod, while Hearn and Remolde each were tabbed to the Second Team. It is the third consecutive Second Team recognition for Remolde and the first All-PSAC for both Pulliam and Hearn, the latter was named East Rookie of the Year last season.
Â
The three All-PSAC honorees is tied for the most in a single season in program history, joining the 1995-96 and 1996-97 teams.
Â
Pulliam, a sophomore guard/forward, experienced a sophomore surge this season. She played in all 30 games, starting in 16, including the last 12. Pulliam averaged a team-high 11.1 points per game, 4.1 rebounds per game and 1.9 assists per game, all career-highs. She also had 15 blocks and 17 steals in 27.6 minutes per game.
Â
Hearn followed up her breakout freshman campaign with another successful season as a sophomore. She played in 29-of-30 games, making 18 starts. Hearn averaged a career-best 10.7 ppg and 4.3 rpg in 25.4 mpg. Her 23 blocks ranked inside the top-13 in the PSAC.
Â
It was another typical year for Remolde, a three-time All-PSAC East selection and 2019-20 East Defensive Athlete of the Year. The senior started 29 games and averaged 10.2 ppg and a team-best 5.8 rpg, while also dishing out 2.1 apg in a team-high 31.3 mpg. Remolde shot 81.1% from the free-throw line, which ranked eighth in the PSAC. Her 47 blocks were fourth-most in the conference. She is near the top of the program record books in several statistical categories. Remolde has 192 career blocks, eight shy of the KU record, and her 312 made free-throws is 15 shy of the program record.
Â
Kutztown finished 2022-23 with a 15-15 overall record and made it to the PSAC Quarterfinals, falling to Shippensburg on the road, one win shy of its second straight final four and third in the last four seasons. KU has won at least one PSAC postseason game for the second season in-a-row and fourth time in the last five. The Golden Bears made their sixth straight appearance in the PSAC tournament and the ninth time out of the last 10 seasons. Pulliam, Hearn and Remolde are all expected back next season, looking to bring KU back to a deeper postseason run.
