WILSON, N.C. – Following a 19-day layoff of action, Kutztown softball was back at it Friday afternoon, playing two games at Barton College, games added just two days ago due to weather canceling previously scheduled games at Virginia State for today. KU won the opener 9-7 before dropping the second game 8-0 at Jeffries Field in Wilson, N.C.

The Golden Bears (3-6 overall) snapped a five-game losing streak with the game one victory.

Sarah Harvey (Swanton, Vt./Missisquoi Valley Union) started inside the circle in the opener and also blasted a home run at the plate to help out her own cause.
Haley Gravish (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) recorded the victory, coming on in relief in the bottom of the fourth inning and closing the door on the Bulldogs (8-8).

Naya Darnowski (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Township) went a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish in game one. Freshman
Alexa Stevens (Covington Township, Pa./North Pocono), playing in her first collegiate game, went yard to help the Maroon and Gold offense, which tied a season-high with nine runs.
Lauren Petitt (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) and
Kate Ostaszewski (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) both had two RBIs.
Sarah Harvat (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) had an RBI and two hits and both
Kristin Geesey (Bainbridge, Pa./Elizabethtown) and
Hannah Reimel (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) finished with two hits.
Brianna Stocklin (Deptford, N.J./Deptford Township) also recorded a hit.

The Golden Bears did not record a hit in the nightcap and committed six errors on defense, which led to five unearned runs. The Bulldogs had eight hits and totaled eight runs.

Kutztown will now begin its spring break trip with nine games in six days down in Florida, beginning with a doubleheader at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla., on Monday, March 13. Game one is set to begin at noon.
