INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Following its latest victory, a 17-12 win over Millersville last Saturday, the seventh straight triumph, the Kutztown football team was ranked seventh in the latest NCAA Super Region 1 rankings.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Divisional champion Golden Bears (7-2 overall, 6-0 PSAC East) are looking to qualify for the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in the last five seasons and the sixth time in program history (2010 and 2011 seasons).

The top seven seeds in each region earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament, with the top-seed earning a bye to the NCAA Second Round. The two-seed, three-seed, and four-seed each earn the right to host an NCAA First Round contest. The committee will announce one more set of updated rankings next Monday, Nov. 6, and will unveil the final rankings with the announcement of the playoff field Sunday, Nov. 12. Super Region One includes 46 total teams from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, the Mountain East Conference, the Northeast 10 Conference and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Slippery Rock and Tiffin are the two unbeaten teams in the region and are ranked one-two, respectively. The Rock come to Andre Reed Stadium for the PSAC championship game next Saturday, Nov. 11, for a noon kickoff. Charleston (W. Va.) is 7-1 and ranked third, East Stroudsburg (8-1), which KU defeated 34-27 back on Sept. 30, is fourth and Frostburg State (6-2) is fifth. California (Pa.), which knocked off Kutztown 31-20 on Sept. 9, is just before KU at sixth, and then Fairmont State (7-2), Shepherd (7-2) and New Haven (5-2) were voted eighth-through-10th.

Kutztown hits the road for its final East Divisional matchup when it faces West Chester this Saturday, Nov. 4, at 12 p.m., from John A. Farrell Stadium.
