LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- Junior defender Bridget Curtis (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) was honored as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Defensive Athlete of the Week, a recognition announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Curtis has been the leader of the Kutztown back line, which has achieved a remarkable five-game shutout streak, spanning 521:22 of gameplay. In the past week, the Warrington, Pa. native not only contributed to the Maroon & Gold's consecutive shutout victories over Millersville and Shippensburg, but she also secured a 1-0 win against the Marauders with a game-winning goal. Throughout the season, Curtis has proven to be a valuable asset on set pieces, reaching a career-high of three goals, two of which have been game-winners.

While Curtis has earned a spot on the All-PSAC East First Team during her freshman and sophomore seasons, this recognition marks her first time as the Defensive Athlete of the Week. Since her arrival at Keystone Field in 2021, Curtis has been a key cog for head coach Erik Burstein, playing in 51 games, with 50 of them as a starter. Other than Curtis, Katelyn Economopoulos (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) and Lexy Endres (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) received conference honors earlier in the season, being named PSAC East Athletes of the Week back in September.

Curtis, alongside the Golden Bears, secured a berth in the PSAC Tournament following their victory over Shippensburg last Saturday and currently holds the top position in the conference standings. KU is set to host West Chester in a highly anticipated PSAC East matchup this Wednesday, October 18th at 7 p.m.
