KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- A brace from
Isabella Rossetti (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) lifted the Kutztown University women's soccer team (6-2-1, 5-2-1 PSAC) over Lock Haven (3-6-1, 1-6-1 PSAC) 2-0 on a rainy and cold Wednesday night at Keystone Field.
Rossetti's two goals came in a four-minute span in the second half as the junior finished with a team-leading four shots on goal. She is now tied with graduate student Kayla Argen (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) for the team lead in goals with four.
Argen and freshman Caroline McDonald (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) registered the assists on the goals. McDonald finished with two shots on frame, while Argen and Lexy Endres (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) finished with one. The Golden Bears outshot the Bald Eagles 20-4.
KU started the game on the front foot, with early chances from Rossetti and McDonald going just wide of the goal in the first 10 minutes. Emme Wolfel (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) was called into action for the first time in the 21st minute, making a good top-shelf save off Jocelynn Kuhns. Wolfel finished with four saves in the contest.
The Golden Bears continued to push, as a long free kick from Argen hit the underside of the crossbar, but didn't cross the line in the 26th minute. KU ended the first half with a 10-1 shot advantage and 8-1 corner advantage, but couldn't find the opener in the first 45.Â
KU opened the second half on fire with chances from Argen, Ally Doyle (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown), and Sadie Goad (Reading, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) that nearly found the back of the net. The Golden Bears finally found the breakthrough in the 64th minute. Madison Fey (Zionsville, Pa./Emmaus) was able to fend off a defender near the sideline and loft a ball into the box. Chaos ensued as Argen headed a ball down to the feet of Rossetti, who slotted in past the Lock Haven goalie for the 1-0 lead.

The Golden Bear's second goal came four minutes later. Goad picked up possession in her own half and played a beautiful ball down the sideline to McDonald. She was able to torch her defender and slide a ball across to a wide-open Rossetti, who made it 2-0.
The Bald Eagles had a chance to cut the deficit in half in the 70th minute off a free kick, but Wolfel made her best save of the night, diving to her left to deny Josie Swartz. The Golden Bears' defense locked down again, killing the clock and holding on for the 2-0 victory.Â
The Golden Bears are now winners of two-straight games and have recorded six clean sheets in 2022. It's the 12th-straight victory over Lock Haven dating back to 2012.Â
KU takes the field again at Keystone Field this Saturday, Oct. 1 against Shippensburg. The game will kick off at 1 p.m.Â
