SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. -- Less than 24 hours after a thrilling, four-set victory for the first conference win on the season, the Kutztown University women's volleyball team was unable to keep the momentum going, falling to Shepherd 3-0 by scores of 12-25, 13-25, 15-25, Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division action.
The Golden Bears (7-7 overall, 1-2 PSAC), which took down second-place Shippensburg on the road the night before, had a tough time slowing down the Rams (9-5, 1-2) on their home court Saturday. Shepherd's offensive attack was what allowed it to earn the victory. The Rams finished with a .368 hit percentage compared to Kutztown's .021.Â
Sadie Doss (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) finished with a team-high 11 kills, followed by eight from
Adrianna Derstine (Barto, Pa./Boyertown).
Lexi Morrow (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) recorded 18 assists, six digs, three kills and one ace.
Gianna Agosti (Nesquehoning, Pa./Marian Catholic) contributed seven digs defensively, while
Alandra Hasbrouck (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) added five digs.
Kutztown remains on the road for another PSACÂ back-to-back next weekend. KU takes on Lock Haven next Friday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m., followed by a match at Bloomsburg on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m.
