SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- The Kutztown University women's volleyball team won three sets in-a-row after dropping the opener and in doing so secured its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference victory of the season, defeating Shippensburg 3-1 on the road Friday night in Eastern Division action.
After slipping up in the opening set 23-25, the Golden Bears (7-6 overall, 1-1 PSAC) won the next three by scores of 25-23, 25-22, 25-17.
Sadie Doss (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) and
Adrianna Derstine (Barto, Pa./Boyertown)Â were the top-two attackers on the night. Doss finished with 18 kills, while adding three aces and 11 digs, and Derstine tallied 17 kills, seven digs and three blocks.
Gianna Agosti (Nesquehoning, Pa./Marian Catholic)Â had 15 digs for KU.
Lexi Morrow (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) once again moved up in the KU record book. Her 40 assist night pushed her to eighth all-time in program history in career assists. The senior now has 1,584 assists, 374 this season. Morrow has had at least 40 assists in four straight matches.
Kutztown turns right around for another PSAC match when it travels to West Virginia to take on Shepherd tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m.
