Box Score HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- The fifth-ranked Kutztown University field hockey team continued its scorching start to the 2022 season, hitting the road for the first time and defeating Coker University 4-0 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game in South Carolina.
The Golden Bears (5-0 overall) are off to their best start to a season since 2011 when they also won the first five games on the schedule. The 2007 team has the program-record for wins to start a season with 10 consecutive.
Rachel Dusman (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) scored two goals and assisted on another and is now tied for second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in goals (6) and assists (4) on the year.
Andie Sierer (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) and
Greenleigh McGehee (New Tripoli, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh)Â rounded out the scoring for the Maroon and Gold offense, both coming in a three-goal third quarter that broke the game open.
Sarah Gatehouse (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) finished with two assists and
Megan Doyle (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) also had an assist.
Katie Dotterweich (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) finished with three saves and recorded another shutout victory, her fifth win in as many starts. KU outshot Coker 14-3 and held a 19-6 advantage in penalty corners.
Kutztown remains down south and will travel up a state for its next game. KU takes on Wingate University tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m.
