SHIPPENSBURG Pa. – Top-ranked Kutztown and Shippensburg renewed their familiar rivalry Saturday at Robb Sports Complex, meeting for the second time this season in a matchup between two high-caliber programs. No. 3 upended No. 1, as the Raiders beat the Golden Bears, 1-0.
The loss snapped Kutztown's 35-game regular-season winning streak, the longest active streak in NCAA Division II. The Golden Bears' last regular-season loss came on Oct. 23, 2024, when they fell 3-2 in overtime at No. 6 West Chester.
Kutztown and Shippensburg have a history of closely contested matchups, with both teams trading wins in recent seasons. The Golden Bears defeated the then-No. 1 Raiders, 1-0, in September, while Shippensburg claimed two of the three meetings between the teams in 2025.
The contest featured some of the most evenly matched statistics Kutztown has seen this season. The Golden Bears put five of their nine shots on goal, while the Raiders recorded five shots on target out of seven attempts. Shippensburg also held KU to three penalty corners while earning two of its own.
Shippensburg broke through on a penalty corner with just 10 seconds remaining in the first quarter, scoring at 14:50 to take a 1-0 lead.
