KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Kutztown University athletic department would like to announce the Team MVPs and Coaches Award winners from the previous 2021-22 calendar year
Fall Sports
Men's Cross Country
The Team MVP award was awarded to senior Giordanovenchy Cerisier (North Wales, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham). Cerisier was named to the All-PSAC Second Team and earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award. Â
The Coach's Award went to junior Ryan Smith (North Plainfield, N.J./North Plainfield). Smith competed in three meets in 2021, running a 27:55.7 at the PSAC Championships. Smith was named a captain of the team ahead of the 2022 season.Â
Women's Cross Country
The Team MVP award was awarded to freshman Erika Moriarty (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown). Moriarty was named to the All-PSAC first team in her first year of collegiate action. The Kutztown native will look to build upon a strong 2021 in the 2022 season.
The Coach's Award went to sophomore Jaelyn D'Amelio (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional). D'Amelio was a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award in 2021. She was named a captain for her junior year ahead of the 2022 season.
Field Hockey
The Team MVP award was given to senior Olivia Blasone (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs). The forward/midfielder started in 17 out of 18 games, notching one goal and a team-high seven assists. The East Berlin, Pa. native will return for her final season in 2022 with the Golden Bears.
The Coach's Award was awarded to junior Abby Thorius (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg). Thorius finished the season with two goals and one assist for five points in 2021. She will enter her senior season in 2022.
Football
The Team MVP award was awarded to senior defensive lineman Ryan Meyers (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley). Meyers was named to the All-PSAC East First Team in 2021, playing in all 13 games while notoching 28 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.
The Coach's Award was given to redshirt senior Togba Jallah-Porte II (Collingdale, Pa./Academy Park). Jallah-Porte played in all 13 games in 2021, racking up 31 tackles including a career high of 9.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks.
Women's Golf
The Team MVP award was awarded to junior Cecelia Knecht (North Charleston, S.C./Fort Dorchester). Knecht shot a season low 80 in the second round of the Evann Parker Memorial and at the Dickinson Fall Invitational, which was good for third.
The Coach's Award was awarded to junior Alexis Verdes (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township). Verdes received the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award.Â
Women's Soccer
The Team MVP award was awarded to senior Kayla Argen (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East). Argen was the leader of the Golden Bears, earning a plethora of awards, including being named the PSAC East Athlete of the Year. She led the team with 10 goals and five assists for 25 points. Argen will enter her fifth year with the program in 2022.
The Coach's Award was awarded to senior Gabby Kane (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford). Kane started in all 20 games for the Golden Bears, registering two assists.Â
Women's Volleyball
The Team MVP award was awarded to senior Sydney Wilson (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty). The Libero from Bethlehem, Pa. was a team captain and earned All-PSAC East Second Team honors, leading the team with 533 digs.
The Coach's Award was awarded to senior Gianna Agosti (Nesquehoning, Pa./Marian Catholic). Agosti was a team captain and a PSAC Scholar-Athlete, finishing the season with 25 service aces and nine assists.
Winter Sports
Men's Basketball
The Team MVP award was awarded to freshman Jalen Bryant (Edgewood, Md./John Carroll). Bryant started in 25 games in 2021, playing 28.6 minutes a night while averaging 10.1 points per game.
The Coach's Award was given to junior Wesley Butler (Reading, Pa./Reading). Butler led the team in minutes per game (32.8) and points per game (14.9).
Women's Basketball
The Team MVP award was awarded to senior guard Rylee Derr (Lititz, Pa./Warwick). She is the program's all-time leading scorer and earned a plethora of other awards over her four years in Kutztown.
The Coach's Award was awarded to junior Casey Remolde (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy). Remolde earned All-PSAC East Second Team honors in 2022 and won PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week 10 times in her career.
Women's Bowling
The Team MVP award was awarded to sophomore Chloe Sromovski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial). Sromovski was named as the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week multiple times and helped lead the Golden Bears to its first NTCA national ranking since 2019.
The Team Coach's Award was awarded to sophomore Megan Hanaway (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township). Hanaway was a key part of the line up that upset No. 3 Mercyhurst in the ECC Women's Bowling Championship.
Women's Swimming
The Team MVP award was awarded to junior Gracie McKee (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown). McKee broke a 25-year old school record in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing with a 2:03.22 and winning a silver medal at the PSAC's. She also holds the school record in the 100-yard butterfly and is second all-time for the 100-yard backstroke.
The Team Coach's Award was awarded to senior Keelie Walker (York, Pa./York Suburban). Walker helped the team put together its best 400 free relay time of the season at the PSAC's and was a four-year member of the Golden Bears program.
Wrestling
The Team MVP award was awarded to Andrew Dunn Jr. (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) Dunn went 23-1 in 2021-22 and came up just short of a National Championship after falling to Darrell Mason in the championship bout. Dunn finished with a career record of 69-3 and a National Championship for Kutztown back in 2019.
The Team Coach's Award was given to senior Matt Wilde (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown). The Boyertown, Pa. native went 22-5 in 2021-22. Â
Spring Sports
Women's Tennis
The Team MVP award was awarded to senior Catherine Maher (Shillington, Pa./Berks Catholic). Maher won seven singles and five doubles matches and was named an ITA Scholar Athlete.
The Team Coach's Award was awarded to sophomore Sarah Lazarchak (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth). Lazarchak won a team-leading eight doubles matches along with six singles wins.Â
Men's Tennis
The Team MVP award was awarded to sophomore Gonzalo Barcelo (San Pedro, Argentina/Nuestra Senora del Socorro). Barcelo won five doubles matches and was named an ITA Scholar Athlete.
The Team Coach's Award was awarded to junior Neal Devkaran (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI Catholic). Devkaran won four singles and four doubles matches and was named an ITA Scholar Athlete.Â
Softball
The Team MVP award was awarded to senior Kate Ostaszewski (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan). Ostaszewski was second on the team in batting average (.359) and started in all 55 games for the Golden Bears en route to the NCAA Tournament.
The Team Coach's Award was awarded to junior Sarah Harvey (Swanton, Vt./Missisquoi Valley Union). Harvey played as a two-way player, leading the team in batting average (.366) while also going 7-4 in the circle, including five complete games.
Baseball
The Team MVP award was awarded to junior Gavin Moretski (Harleysville, Pa./La Salle College H.S.). Moretski played in all 46 games for Kutztown in 2022 and led the team in home runs (4), RBI (23), and was second on the team in batting average (.326).
The Team Coach's Award was awarded to senior Mitchell Peers (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown). Peers appeared in 36 games for the Golden Bears, notching 21 hits, including five doubles, and 13 runs.
Lacrosse
The Team MVP award was awarded to freshman Lailah ElBouazzaoui (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan). ElBouazzaoui led the team in goals (43), draw controls (59), and was third in points with 46. She had five-goal games against Lock Haven, Holy Family, and West Chester.
The Team Coach's Award was awarded to junior Cyrose Conteh (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown). The defender led the team with 22 caused turnovers and was third on the team in ground balls with 35.
Acrobatics and Tumbling
The Team MVP award was awarded to freshman Allison Fernandez (Westfield, N.J./Westfield), as chosen by her teammates. Fernandez competed in 10 heats as a top/tumbler during the Golden Bears' inaugural season. Fernandez scored over a 9.0 in five events this past season.Â

The Team Coach's Award was awarded to freshman Tiffani Lincoln (Oneonta, N.Y./Oneonta). She competed in 13 heats as a top/tumbler for KU. Lincoln scored over a 9.0 in 18 events this past season and posted a near perfect score in the pyramid heat.Â
Men's Track
The Team MVP award was awarded to sophomore Tyeshawn Worrell (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg). The sprinter finished the team's top three times in the 100 meter dash for Kutztown, including a 10.84 time at the Millersville Metrics.
The Team Coach's Award was awarded to sophomore Anthony DeFusco (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone). The jumper from Douglassville, Pa. is top 10 in Kutztown history in both the indoor and outdoor ling and triple jumps and earned his first career PSAC medal at the 2022 Outdoor Championship. DeFusco was also named as a team captain ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Men's Field
The Team MVP award was awarded to sophomore Jason Mraz (Edison, N.J./Edison). The Edison, N.J. native earned his first career PSAC medal after finishing third in the pole vault at the 2022 Outdoor Championship.
Women's Track
The Team MVP award was awarded to freshman Taniyah Lawler (Chester, Pa./Chester). Lawler earned U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Atlantic Region status after a strong freshman campaign that was capped of by a NCAA provisional and personal-best time in the 4x100m hurdles relay final at the PSAC's. Her 1:01.99 time was the second best all-time in Kutztown history.
The Team Coach's Award was awarded to redshirt senior Kira Solt (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough). Solt was also a member of the 4x100 hurdles relay group that captured the silver medal at the PSAC's. She also received a 2021-22 AD ADAD Academic Achievement Award.
Women's Field
The Team MVP award was awarded to senior Ally Tama (Towanda, Pa./Towanda). Tama finished second-overall in the Atlantic Region in the pole vault with a program record 3.85m. As a member of the Golden Bears program, Tama captured the 2021 PSAC Outdoor championship along with the 2020 PSAC Indoor title.
