KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The time has come. March is here. The Kutztown University women's basketball team has competed hard for a long and grueling four-month regular season for this moment. KU opens up postseason play, hosting Lock Haven University in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference quarterfinal round Wednesday, March 2, at 5:30 p.m., at Keystone Arena.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for non-PSAC students. PSAC students with a valid ID are free. Ticket information and live game coverage, along with PSAC championship central can be found at the links above.

The Golden Bears finished the regular season at 25-5 overall and 18-3 in the PSAC, program records for total wins and conferences wins in a season. For the second time in the last three seasons, Kutztown is the PSAC East Division champion and is the top seed from the East bracket, welcoming in the fifth-seeded Bald Eagles (11-12 overall), a 64-34 winner over Shippensburg in the first round on Monday, Feb. 28.

KU has qualified for the PSAC Tournament for the fifth consecutive year, reaching the PSAC championship game for the first time in program history in March of 2019.

Kutztown is riding a six-game win streak and has won its last 10 games at home, going 13-1 in the friendly confines of Keystone Arena this season, the lone loss coming to then-No. 10 IUP on Dec. 3.

In two regular season meetings this year, Kutztown defeated Lock Haven twice by and average of 17.5 points. KU won at Lock Haven, 65-44, on Jan. 12, and then took down the Bald Eagles at home, 60-46, on Feb. 5. The two teams last met in the postseason in the quarterfinal round on March 6, 2019, an 81-64 win for KU at Keystone. Kutztown is 31-14 all-time against Lock Haven, including winning 10 in-a-row in the series. The Maroon and Gold are 19-3 against the Bald Eagles at home.

The KU defense ranks second in the PSAC, allowing 53.3 points per game, and leads the NCAA Division II in blocks with 186. Junior Casey Remolde (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) ranks fifth nationally with 78 rejections, the most in a single season in program history, and is fifth in the PSAC in total rebounding with 239 this season.

The Golden Bear offense has made 221 3-pointers, tops in the conference. Rylee Derr (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) is averaging 13.8 ppg and leads the PSAC in 3-pointers made (75) and 3-point % (.405). Remolde is averaging 10.4 ppg and first-year players Abbey Hearn (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) and Naia Pulliam (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) are amongst the top first-year players in the PSAC in scoring, averaging 9.9 ppg and 8.4 ppg, respectively. Zara Zerman (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) ranks inside the top-15 in the conference with 87 assists, 2.9 apg.

Wednesday night's winner advances to the semifinal round this weekend. A victory for Kutztown brings the final four to Keystone Arena for the second time in three seasons, where it would play against the winner of the PSAC West's two seed, Gannon, or the sixth seed, Pitt-Johnstown, on Saturday, March 5, at 3:30 p.m. The other semifinal is scheduled for 1 p.m.
