SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Golden Bears finish their regular season on a high note as they bested Shippensburg 64-55. Kutztown heads into the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Basketball Championship tournament on a hot streak, winning their last six games. 
 
After clinching the top seed in the Eastern Division with their win over Bloomsburg in their last match, the Maroon and Gold have had their eyes on the postseason. Ten different Golden Bears saw action in today's match-up, giving the usual starters some much needed rest before competition intensifies.
 
Kutztown took the lead with two minutes remaining in the first quarter outscoring the Raiders 17-11 and never looked back as their lead grew throughout the game. After the first quarter the Golden Bears outpaced Shippensburg by one point in every quarter, ensuring their victory. 
 
Freshman Naia Pulliam (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) led the Golden Bears in scoring, with 16 points shooting 7-11 from the field and 2-3 from behind the three-point line. Pulliam has been a spark off the bench for the Golden Bears this entire season and has become one of their most efficient scorers. 
 
Alexis Smith (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) and Abbey Hearn (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) rounded out the top scorers for the Golden Bears this afternoon. Smith finished the game with 14 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Hearn added 13 points of her own, grabbing three rebounds, and blocking four shots.
 
Junior Casey Remolde (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) had yet another strong defensive performance, grabbing 9 rebounds, blocking four shots, and coming up with three steals in the game. Rylee Derr (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) had 7 points of her own, grabbing 6 rebounds, and adding 5 steals to the stat sheet.
 
As the highest seed for the post season the Golden Bears have a first round by for the PSAC playoff, making their next competition at home Wednesday, March 2^nd at 5:30 PM. After the first round of playoffs, on Monday Feb. 28^th, Kutztown will know which team they will square off against.
