INDIANA, Pa. -- The Kutztown University men's basketball (2-6, 2-1 PSAC) team dropped its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference contest of the season, falling to No. 2 IUP (9-0, 3-0 PSAC) 83-72 at the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex Sunday evening.
Kyree Generett (York, Pa./William Penn) had one of the best games of his college career, scoring a career-high 26 points while grabbing five boards.
Robert Tucker (Philadelphia, Pa./Paul Robeson) continued his solid start to the season, recording another double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Wesley Butler (Reading, Pa./Reading) scored 12 points, putting him only two points shy of the 1,000 career point mark.
KU kept up with the Crimson Hawks for a good portion of the first half, before IUP stepped up the offensive production and took a 37-30 lead heading into the half.
The Crimson Hawks continued to show their offensive power as the second half went on as they shot nearly 50% from the floor. Despite that, the Golden Bears kept battling, going on a 10-0 run with around five minutes left in the game to cut the lead to single digits. Despite the push toward the end of the game, IUP was able to hold on and take the contest 83-72.
The Golden Bears have a quick turnaround as they take on Seton Hill Monday, Dec. 19, in Greensburg, Pa. That game will tip off at 3 p.m.
