No. 3 Field Hockey wraps up regular season with road victory at Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Freshman Erin Gonzalez tallied two goals and graduate student Rachel Dusman (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) scored her team-leading 14th goal on the season as third-ranked Kutztown Field Hockey shutout Slippery Rock 3-0 Sunday afternoon in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference regular season finale.

The win was the 10th in-a-row for the Golden Bears (16-2 overall, 8-1 PSAC), tying the program record for a win streak with the 2007 team. Win No. 16 on the season is also third-most in program history, the most since 2007 and the second-most regular season triumphs for the Maroon and Gold.

Juliana Donato (Cedarville, N.J./Schalick) assisted on both Gonzalez goals and now has seven assists on the year, third-best on KU. Dusman ranks fourth in the PSAC with her 14 tallies and is tied for third with 36 points.

Gonzalez and Dusman combined to give Kutztown a 2-0 lead within the first 10 minutes of the contest, seemingly putting the game out of reach against the Rock (7-9, 1-7). Gonzalez then added her second for good measure 4:13 into the third quarter.

Katie Dotterweich (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) was not forced into action but earned her seventh shutout of the season, tied for most in the conference. Her .881 goals against average ranks second in the PSAC.

Kutztown earned the top seed in the PSAC Tournament and will have a bye through to the semifinal round and host the final four at Andre Reed Stadium. KU's semifinal game will be Friday, Nov. 18, most likely at 5:30 p.m., against a team to be determined.
