KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The No. 1 Kutztown University field hockey team (16-3, 8-1 PSAC) fell to No. 4 East Stroudsburg (17-2, 7-2 PSAC) 2-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament semifinal Friday evening at Andre Reed Stadium.
Madison Kline opened the scoring in the first quarter, followed by a goal in the third quarter by Lia Parker for ESU to secure the 2-0 win. The Golden Bears were awarded a penalty stroke in the second quarter, but couldn't capitalize.
Rachel Dusman (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) and Jillian Buchman (Drums, Pa./Hazleton) lead the KU offense, both registering two shots on goal. Breann Craley (York, Pa./Central York) and Abby Thorius (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) both registered a shot each. KU had a 6-3 shots on goal advantage in the contest and a massive 17-4 corner advantage.
The Golden Bears will now await their fate to see if they did enough to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. The selection show will take place Monday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. on NCAA.com.
