BLOOMSBURG, Pa. --The Kutztown University's women's soccer team dropped its PSAC quarterfinal contest against the Bloomsburg Huskies 2-0 at Steph Pettit Stadium Tuesday evening.
The teams battled back and forth for the first hour of the contest, but a moment of brilliance from Lauren Bull broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute. It was then an Aubrey Hondros header with seven minutes left in the game that sealed the deal for the Huskies.
The Golden Bears' (9-5-4) defense did a great job for the majority of the contest limiting Bloomsburg's (14-3-2) high-danger chances, allowing 22 shots with only 10 of them hitting the target. Emme Wolfel (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) was spectacular in the net, making a season-high eight saves in the contest
On the offensive side of the field, KU generated 13 shots, with nine of them being on target. Kayla Argen (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) was at the heart of the offensive things for KU, registering three shots on goal. Madison Fey (Zionsville, Pa./Emmaus) had two shots on goals while Caroline McDonald (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East), Lexy Endres (Medford, N.J./Shawnee), Isabella Rossetti (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East), and Bridget Curtis (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) all had one.
The Golden Bears will now await their fate with the NCAA Tournament selection committee. KU was ranked seventh in last week's regional poll. The final regional rankings will be released Wednesday afternoon, with the selection show taking place Monday, Nov. 7.
