Box Score 2 EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Kutztown University softball team was downed in both games Friday afternoon at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division action. Game one was 7-4 and game two 7-0, both in favor of ESU.

The Golden Bears (21-9 overall, 16-8 PSAC) have hit a bump in conference play of late, losing five in-a-row, the two to the Warriors and the last three to Shippensburg University last weekend.

Kate Ostaszewski (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) finished with three hits on the day and three RBIs.
Sarah Harvey (Swanton, Vt./Missisquoi Valley Union) and
Jenna Martinez (Oracle, Ariz./Canyon del Oro) both had two hits, the former hitting a homerun in game one.

The two teams will play the second half of the series at North Campus Field tomorrow, Saturday, April 17. Game one is set to begin at 1 p.m.

East Stroudsburg 7, Kutztown 4

Harvey helped herself out with a solo homerun to left field in the top of the second inning, her second of the season, to put KU ahead 1-0.

East Stroudsburg responded with three runs in the bottom of the third inning as the first four Warriors reached base safely and two singles brought home three runs.

The Maroon and Gold answered right back though with a three-run inning of their own in the top of the fourth. After two quick outs, Harvey doubled to center field,
Jenna Martinez (Oracle, Ariz./Canyon del Oro) singled and then
Cameryn Feathers (Martinsburg, Pa./Central) walked to load the bases. Ostaszewski stepped up and ripped a bases clearing double the other way to left center and KU went back on top 4-3.

The Warriors got three right back however, with five singles in the bottom-half of the fourth to reclaim the lead at 6-4. ESU would add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly.

Kutztown was outhit 9-3. East Stroudsburg scored all seven of its runs in the final three innings (three in the fourth and two in both the fifth and sixth).

Ostaszewski, Martinez and
Brianna Hughes (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) recorded the hits for KU.

Amber Brugger (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) and
Ava Bottiglia (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) combined to pitch the six innings for the Golden Bears.
