BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- The Kutztown University men's tennis team fell short in its bid for a second consecutive victory, suffering a 7-0 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference setback at Bloomsburg Saturday afternoon.
The Huskies (2-2, 2-2 PSAC) swept doubles and mirrored that success by winning all six singles matches in straight sets.
Kutztown's (1-4, 1-4 PSAC) best effort in doubles came from the No. 3 team of
Justin Gincauskas (Mississauga, Ontario/Cawthra Park Secondary) and
Ethan Moyer (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser), who fell 6-3 against Scott Redmond and Victor Martinez. Bloomsburg won the top flight match 6-1 and took second doubles 6-0.
The Golden Bears competed hard in singles, despite coming up empty, winning at least six games in 4-of-6 matches.
Freshman
Gonzalo Barcelo (San Pedro, Argentina/Nuestra Senora del Socorro) pushed Ben Clary in a 6-4, 6-3 loss at No. 1, while No. 2
Sebastian Arizpe (Puebla, Mexico/Colegio Humboldt de Puebla), No. 4 Gincauskas and No. 6
Ethan Moyer (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) dropped their respective matches by 6-3, 6-3 scores.
Kutztown steps out of conference on Monday when it heads down to Philadelphia to take on Jefferson at 2 p.m.
