Golden Bears score a season-high 82 points in their 28-point victory over Jefferson Saturday

KUTZTOWN, Pa. -  The Kutztown University women's basketball team shot 46 percent from beyond the arc in its 82-54 victory over Jefferson Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Keystone Arena. The Golden Bears improve to 5-2 on the season winning their last four games.

After ending the first quarter tied 13-13, the Golden Bears would go on a 19-2 point run to end the second quarter, and outscored the Rams 23-8 overall in the quarter, carrying a fifteen point lead into halftime. Kutztown shot over 70 percent from the field in the second quarter. Forward Abbey Hearn (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) started that run for the Maroon and Gold scoring seven straight points. Hearn finished with a team-high 19 points, making 2-3 from three point territory, and grabbing seven rebounds in the competition.

In the third quarter, the Kutztown lead continued to grow despite it being Jefferson's best quarter offensively in the matchup. Alexis Smith (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) made three of her four three pointers in the third quarter, she finished the game with 14 points and four assists.

Rylee Derr (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) also aided the long range attack today, shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc (3-of-6) and adding 14 points to the Kutztown total. Casey Remolde (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) tallied 15 points, four rebounds, two assists and a season-high three blocks.

Kutztown's lead would grow to as large as 29 points late into the fourth quarter for their largest win of the season. The Golden Bears have bested the Rams the last four times the two teams have matched up.

The Maroon and Gold's next competition is on Wednesday, Nov. 24th, as they are set to take on Holy Family at home in Keystone Arena at 3:00 p.m.
