No. 3 Women’s Soccer wins 10th in-a-row with 2-1 win over Lock Haven

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The third-ranked Kutztown University women's soccer team keeps the streak alive. The Golden Bears have now won ten games in a row, eight of those games against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division competition. Kutztown defeated Lock Haven in its latest game, 2-1 on Wednesday night at Keystone Field.

The Golden Bears (10-0 overall, 8-0 PSAC East) would jump out to an early lead over the Bald Eagles scoring in the 17th minute. Alisea Munshower (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) would find the back of the net, scoring on the rebound from a shot by Gabby Kane (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) that was knocked away by the Lock Haven goalie. Kutztown would be in control of the game throughout the first half, out-shooting the Bald Eagles 5-2 and commanding possession of the ball for the majority of play.

In the second half, Lock Haven would start off strong after the break. LHU looked to be a much more inspired team coming back on the field. In the 61st minute, Sydney Stahl would score for the Bald Eagles, the first goal the Golden Bear defense allowed in two weeks.

The game would not remain tied for long, however, as Brittany Arentz (Mount Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) scored her fourth goal of the season in the 69th minute of the game giving the Golden Bears the 2-1 lead. After coming back onto the field, Arentz would get the ball on the 18-yard box, turned and shot, scoring on a pass by Kayla Argen (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East), just past the goalie's outstretch arms in the bottom left corner.

Kutztown would regain control of the game and possession of the ball running out the time remaining on the clock, limiting Lock Havens offense to only two shots after retaking the lead.

The Golden Bears will be back in action at home Saturday, October 9th. Kutztown will look to continue their success as they take on West Chester in another PSAC East match up.
