Morrow surpasses 1,000 assists as comeback falls short for Golden Bear volleyball at Slippery Rock

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Setter Lexi Morrow (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) moved past 1,000 career assists and into 10th-place in program history as the Kutztown University women's volleyball team erased a two-set deficit to force a fifth set on the road at Slippery Rock University Saturday. KU fought its way to match point, but The Rock scored the final three points to prevail 3-2 over the Golden Bears.

Erin Patterson (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) drove home her match-high 23rd kill to give the Golden Bears a 14-13 lead in the fifth set. Slippery Rock capitalized with a bad KU set, an ace and a KU attack error to close the match.

Patterson hit .357 to lead KU offensively. Lauren Jackson (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) added 13 kills and four block assists. Setting the duo up was Lexi Morrow (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry), who had 36 assists. Morrow entered the match needing nine assists for 1,000. The junior, who set up 378 kills during her freshman season in 2019 now ranks 10th all-time at KU with 1,027 assists.
