KUTZTOWN, Pa. --
Giordanovenchy Cerisier (North Wales, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) captured his first career All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) honor with an 18th-place showing on his home course Friday, as the Golden Bears placed eighth at the PSAC Cross Country Championships.

Cerisier, a senior, showed veteran savvy by putting in a balanced race that saw him gain 12 spots during the middle stages before finishing 18th in 26:53.2 for a spot on the All-PSAC Second Team. The North Wales, Pa., native completed his opening mile in 5:06.3, putting him in the back half of the top 30. By the 2.1-mile mark, Cerisier had moved up seven places. He jumped five more into 15th at the 3.5-mile checkpoint, taking hold of the final All-PSAC First Team position.

Despite slipping back a few spots at the finish, it was an outstanding performance by Cerisier, who set a new personal best time on the North Campus Farm Loop course by 37 seconds over his run at last month's Division II-III Challenge.

Though Cerisier was Kutztown's only all-conference finisher, head coach Ray Hoffman's squad put in a solid and consistent effort in the absence of its top runner, two-time All-PSAC performer Andrew Sulon (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg), who has been sidelined for the last three meets.

Junior Ryan Smith (North Plainfield, N.J./North Plainfield) pushed hard early, putting down a 5:05.8 in the opening mile, coming across the first checkpoint in 25th. Sophomore Logan Iacobelli (Breinigsville, Pa./Parkland) ran as high as 38th at the 2.1-mile split. Ultimately, the Bears' four scoring runners behind Cerisier would finish the 8k race immediately following one another with Iacobelli in 53rd (27:49.2), Smith in 54th (27:55.7), Port Habalar (Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) in 55th (27:56.1) and Jack Hollar (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) in 56th (27:57.6).

Domenick Wallace (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) took 75th in 28:37.8 and Anthony Kositz (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) was 112th in 29:53.0 to round out KU's entries. Six Kutztown runners lowered their times from September's DII-DIII challenge on the same course.

Most Outstanding Runner Chayce Macknair held off a trio of Edinboro runners to take the individual title in 25:47.7, but the Fighting Scots used a second-place finish from Ward Ries (25:51.2), a third-place showing by Nick Amos (25:53.0) and a fourth-place run from Jack Lacina (25:58.1) to win their fourth consecutive team crown.Cole Hanks placed eighth for Edinboro, while Eric Alu was 15th, as the champions placed all five of their scoring runners on the All-PSAC First Team.

Edinboro's 32 points were unchallenged with Shippensburg a distant runner-up at 71 points. Lock Haven (124), IUP (133) and Slippery Rock (152) made up the remainder of the top five. Bloomsburg (174), Gannon (211), Kutztown (228), West Chester (239) and Mercyhurst (276) accounted for spots 6-10.

Kutztown will now turn its attention towards the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Championships in Lock Haven on Saturday, Nov. 6.
