MANSFIELD, Pa. – The fourth-ranked Kutztown University women's soccer team came out on top of another 1-0 win over a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division opponent with the team leader in goals,
Kayla Argen (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) scoring her fourth goal of the season. KU downed Mansfield 1-0 Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Bears remained unbeaten at 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the PSAC East. They are off to the second-best start in Kutztown Women's soccer history since the 2017 season when they won 17 straight to start the year.
KU continued its defensive dominance limiting the Mountie (1-5-2, 0-4-2) offense to only one shot in the first half and five shots total the entire game, with only two on goal.
Emme Wolfel (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) continued her strong season in goal, stopping the only two shots she saw all night, adding a fourth shutout to her record this season in only her fifth game in goal in Maroon and Gold.
The Mounties goalkeeper, Faith Cameron, had seven saves on the night against the Maroon and Gold offense that had 23 shots throughout the game, eight of those on target. Eight different Kutztown players would record at least one shot.
Kutztown is back in action on Monday, Oct. 4, at Keystone Field at 7:00 p.m., as it takes on Shepherd in makeup of a previously scheduled game that was postponed due to weather. The Rams have had a slow start to conference play this year 0-4-1, while the Golden Bears look to continue their hot streak and remain undefeated.
