Women's basketball to host Bloomsburg in PSAC First Round game Monday night

CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL | LIVE VIDEO | LIVE STATS

KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- Third-seeded Kutztown will host sixth-seeded Bloomsburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Women's Basketball Championship First Round game Monday evening at 7 p.m. inside Keystone Arena.

The Golden Bears are appearing in the conference tournament for the fourth straight season and have won at least one game in the postseason each of the last two years. Kutztown reached the PSAC championship game for the first time in program history last season.

For the sixth time since 2010, the Maroon and Gold will meet Bloomsburg in the PSAC tournament. KU is 2-3 in those previous matchups, with both victories coming at Keystone Arena, including a 73-60 first round win in 2018.

Junior guard Rylee Derr (Lititz, Pa./Warwick), already a two-time All-PSAC East selection, has upped her game since the start of February. The Lititz native has registered five 20+ point games and four double-doubles in her last eight games. Kutztown (18-10, 15-7 PSAC) went 6-2 in those games and took down PSAC Eastern Division No. 1 seed Shippensburg in its regular season finale last Saturday. Freshman backcourt mate Casey Remolde (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) is an all-around threat that leads the PSAC in blocks. She's averaging 10.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game. The Golden Bears

Bloomsburg concluded the regular season last Wednesday by defeating the Golden Bears, 64-53, on its home floor. Ironically, it was Kutztown capturing an 11-point victory (66-55), in the teams' first meeting this season, back on Jan. 29 in Keystone Arena. The Huskies (13-13, 10-12) are winless in their last four trips to Kutztown. Emma Saxton leads Bloomsburg in scoring with 13.4 points per game, but it's truly a "by committee" approach for the Huskies when it comes to offensive production. Four of their five starters are scoring 9.0 or more points per game and they don't feature a single scorer in the top 20 of the PSAC.

Monday night's winner will advance to the quarterfinal round and travel to East No. 2 East Stroudsburg on Wednesday, March 4, at 5:30 p.m..

Tickets for Monday's PSAC First Round game will be available at the Keystone Arena ticket booth on game night. Prices are $10 for adults and $5 for non-PSAC students. PSAC students with ID will be admitted free of charge. PSAC passes will be accepted, but there will be no other complimentary admission. Doors open at 6 p.m.
