Live Stats | Live Video

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kalee Fuegel (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) and Taylor Thames (Colmar, Pa./North Penn) of the Kutztown University women's basketball team can wrap up their final regular season game in front on the home crowd in style. A victory for KU against Lock Haven University tomorrow, Saturday, March 2, would secure the top overall seed in next week's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament and home-court advantage throughout. Tip-off from Keystone Arena on senior day is set for 1 p.m.

The Kutztown program will also honor two-year team manager Heather Ramp, along with Fuegel and Thames prior to the game.

Fuegel has started in 26-of-27 games thus far and has career-highs in points (112), rebounds (95), assists (70), blocks (5) and steals (62). She has been a pest to opposing defenses as she ranks in the top-five overall in the PSAC in steals, second in the East Division, and is also in the top-25 in assists. Fuegel played in 28-of-30 games for Kutztown last season, making seven starts, and finished third on the team in steals (41) and fourth in assists (38). She has 120 steals across her career and has scored 286 career points, while adding 208 rebounds and 142 assists.

Fuegel was named a PSAC Scholar-Athlete during her freshman season.

Thames has started all 27 games this season, after appearing in every game last year, starting 23-of-30. She is second on KU in minutes played and third in assists per game (2.2). She has played in 114 career games, which is every KU game the last four seasons. Thames has scored 637 career points and added 217 assists and 206 rebounds over her four years.

In the classroom, Thames is a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, a seven-time member of the Dean's List and was also named to the 2019 Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Media Organization's Scholar-Athlete Team for the second straight year.

Earlier this season, Kutztown defeated Lock Haven on the road 66-55 on Jan. 30. Rylee Derr (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) scored a team-high 19 points and contributed nine rebounds, four steals, and two assists. She made five of her nine three point attempts. Karen Lapkiewicz (Southampton, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) tacked on 12 points and three rebounds. Gabbi Wright (Elkins Park, Pa./Cheltenham) scored 11 points, had five rebounds and three blocks against the Bald Eagles. Zoe Zerman (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) added to the win with seven points, three rebounds, two assists, one block, and one steal. Nine different players scored baskets that contributed to the final score.

The Golden Bears (16-11, 13-6) are aiming for a program-record 14th conference win. They should feel confident after climbing back after down by as many as 14 to win at East Stroudsburg last Wednesday, Feb. 27, in their last game.

Kutztown looks to send out its seniors on top and take some momentum into the postseason.
