No. 8 Golden Bears Grab PSAC Victory at No. 25 Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -- Chad Haegele (Warrington, Pa./Archbishop Wood) recorded his first pin of the year and the No. 8 Kutztown University wrestling team totaled 10 bonus points in extending its dual winning streak to 12 matches with a 33-9 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory at No. 25 Millersville on Tuesday evening.

Newly-ranked No. 12 Matt Wilde (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area (Ursinus)) put the Marauders in a six-point hole right away just by stepping on the mat for a forfeit victory at 125 lbs. Shortly thereafter, Anthony Petril (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby (Ursinus)) produced a 13-1 major decision against Anthony Wiggins in the 141-pound bout, increasing the Golden Bears' (12-1, 4-1 PSAC) lead to 10-3.

Jake Jones (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) broke back into the win column with a 5-1 triumph over D.J. Mele at 149 before Haegele pinned Rob Saum in just 90 seconds at 157.

Millersville's (2-8, 0-7) Shane Ruhnke, ranked third in the nation at 165, could only temporarily slow the powerful Golden Bears with his team's lone pin, before sixth-ranked T.C. Warner (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley (Bloomsburg)) got KU back on track with a 15-0 technical fall in his 174-pound matchup with Anthony Yacovetti. The senior from Mechanicsburg improved to 10-0 and the tech. fall was his team-leading fifth of the season.

Top-ranked Jeff Reimel (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) kept his unbeaten season going with a 7-1 decision over Evan Morrill at 184. James Meyer (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) got past Ryan Kokawski, 5-1, at 197 and fourth-ranked Andrew Dunn Jr. (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic (Virginia Tech)) earned his second major decision over David Wuestner this season in the heavyweight bout, 15-4.

With Warner and Dunn each collecting their 10th consecutive victories on Tuesday, the Golden Bears now have four grapplers riding double-figure winning streaks. Haegele won his 15th straight match and Reimel upped his record to 11-0.

Kutztown will close out its home schedule Friday with Senior Night against East Stroudsburg at 7:30 p.m.
