KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's basketball team has won six straight over Bloomsburg University and nine of the last 10, and it will look to continue the trend when it welcomes the Huskies to Keystone Arena for Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 7:30 p.m. on KUSSI Fan Appreciation Night and KU's Golden Bear Honors and Dean's List Honors celebration.
The Golden Bears (12-10 overall, 6-8 PSAC) have had recent success against the Huskies (5-14, 2-12), especially at home, having won every game played between the teams at Keystone since Jan. 23, 2002.
In the last meeting, Kutztown defeated Bloomsburg on the road 80-69.
Josh Townsend (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) recorded his second career double-double, scoring 18 points (8-for-10 from the floor) and grabbing 12 rebounds, while also adding two blocks and tying a career-high with two assists.
Kiyon Hardy (Philadelphia, Pa./The Shipley School) netted 16 points and had three rebounds. He went 3-for-5 from three-point range, 3-of-4 at the free-throw line and was 5-of-9 (55.5-percent) from the field overall.
Anthony Lee (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) led the way, tallying a game-high 20 points to go along with four rebounds and seven assists, which tied a career-high.
Moe Williams (Townsend, Del./Life Center Academy) just missed another double-double, recording eight points and eight rebounds in just 14 minutes, dealing with foul trouble early on.
Facundo Arens (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Bahia Blanca) contributed seven points, three rebounds and three assists.
Kutztown led for almost 33 of the 40 overall minutes. The Huskies scored the opening basket of the contest, but did not see a lead from the 16:59 mark of the first half until a slim two-minute period in the second half. KU put the ball in the basket and defended it on the other end to stay out in front for the remainder, albeit a lot of times by the skins of its teeth.
Look for another game in the 80s for the Maroon and Gold, which would be the 16th time they've scored at least 80 points in a game this season. The KU offense ranks second in the PSAC in scoring at 83.8 points per game (ppg) while Bloomsburg is last defensively giving up 86.8 ppg. KU is shooting 49.2-percent from the floor, second in the PSAC and the best since the 2016-17 season.
Lee has scored in double-digits the last 51 games and is third in Division II at 27.7 ppg. He is fifth in the PSAC in three-point percentage (41.5), second in three-pointers made (66) and first in free-throw percentage (89.6). He is second all-time in KU history with 2,080 career points.
Williams, who returned to the lineup in KU's last game against Shippensburg last Saturday after missing the previous four games, has five double-doubles this season. He ranks fifth in the PSAC at 8.8 rebounds per game.
Ricky Hicks (Coatesville, Pa./Polytech) has started 20-of-22 games and ranks 10th in the PSAC with a 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio. Townsend has scored in double-figures four of the last five games.
Kutztown is fifth in the PSAC East, three games behind Millersville for fourth and a half-game above Lock Haven as it looks to secure a PSAC Tournament berth.
