KU Game Notes | Live Stats | Live Video

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's basketball team is aiming for a season-high in consecutive victories when it hosts Shippensburg University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Division matchup tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 2, at 1 p.m. in a whiteout at Keystone Arena.

The Golden Bears (11-9 overall, 9-4 PSAC) have won three straight games and with a win over the Raiders (10-11, 6-7) would reach a season-high four game win streak. That mark was accomplished twice last season, including during the final stretch of the season. Kutztown has won the last three games vs. Shippensburg.

KU enters Saturday on the heels of a 66-55 road victory at Lock Haven last Wednesday, Jan. 30. Three Golden Bears reached double-figures, including Rylee Derr (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) with 19 points and nine rebounds, Karen Lapkiewicz (Southampton, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) had 12 points and three rebounds and Gabbi Wright (Elkins Park, Pa./Cheltenham) finished 11 points, five rebounds and three blocks.

Derr earned PSAC East Athlete of the Week this week, the first of her career, after producing a career-high 32 points including a new school-record nine three-pointers in a win over East Stroudsburg last Saturday. She is averaging 18.5 ppg, sixth-best in the PSAC, an increase of 4.17 points per game (ppg) from 2017-18. Derr has made 64 3-PTs this season, tops in the PSAC. KU ranks fourth in the PSAC with 141 made 3-PTs.

The Maroon and Gold defense is fourth in the PSAC in points allowed, giving up just 63.3 ppg. Senior Kalee Fuegel (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) is third in the PSAC with a career-high 50 steals, leading the PSAC East. Brianna Tarabocchia (Woodcliff Lake, N.J./Northern Valley Regional (Saint Peter's)) and Wright rank in the top-20 in the PSAC in blocks with 14.

Kutztown is in second place in the PSAC East, one game behind Bloomsburg. The team sitting behind KU in third is Shippensburg.
