KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- Dead even after the first six bouts, No. 15 Kutztown stormed ahead with bonus points in two of its final three victories to hold off scrappy Millersville, 24-13, in its home and PSAC opener Wednesday night at Keystone Arena.

Michael Cusick (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) won by decision at 149, 11th-ranked Chad Haegele (Warrington, Pa./Archbishop Wood) picked up a major decision at 165 and James Potts (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) also captured a decision at 184, but the Marauders answered with a pair of decisions and a major of their own as the match was tied 10-10 more than halfway through.

Millersville's (0-2, 0-2 PSAC) Jack Files was forced to retire due to injury just 53 seconds into the 197-pound bout with Robert Spezza (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic), putting the Golden Bears (1-0, 1-0 PSAC) in front for good. Top-ranked and defending national champion Andrew Dunn Jr. (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) followed with an 8-4 decision over Josh Walls at heavyweight to extend KU's lead to 19-13.

An upset win for the Marauders' Devin Flannery over No. 12 Matt Wilde (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) at 125 kept the visitors within six heading to the final bout, but newcomer Collin Wickramaratna (Malton, N.J./Cherokee), an Ursinus transfer, totaled five takedowns and a pair of back points to finish the night with a 19-4 technical fall that provided Kutztown's final margin of victory.

The Golden Bears will travel to No. 1 Pitt-Johnstown on Friday night at 7 in a battle between two PSAC dual championship hopefuls.
