KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- The Kutztown University women's tennis team fell to Slippery Rock, 7-0, in its Pink Zone match at the Keystone Courts on Saturday afternoon.
KU's No. 1 doubles team of
Alicia Pursell (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) and
Amanda Grebosky (Reisterstown, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) won three games against last weekend's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) doubles champions Viola Lugmayr and Lois Page, while Pursell claimed a team-high three games in singles during her defeat at No. 1 against Lacey Cohen 6-1, 6-2.
The Rock (1-0) captured straight set wins in all five singles matches of its fall opener.
Kutztown (0-3) was hampered by injuries as it was unable to contest matches at third doubles or sixth singles.
Catherine Maher (Shillington, Pa./Berks Catholic) and
Elyssa Tomczyk (Plainville, Conn./Plainville) each won a game in their respective singles matches at No. 3 and No. 4.
Next up for the Maroon and Gold is a date with Davis & Elkins on the Keystone Courts this coming Friday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m.
