BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore
Evan Adanatzian (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) and junior
Andrew Sulon (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) of the Kutztown University men's cross country team both finished inside the top-10 overall of a field of 51 runners to help guide KU to a second place finish Saturday afternoon at the 8k Bloomsburg Invitational in a tune-up for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships in two weeks.
The Golden Bears placed second out of a field of seven PSAC teams, including Shippensburg, West Chester, Millersville, Bloomsburg, Gannon, Pitt-Johnstown and KU.
Adanatzian and Sulon placed second and ninth respectively, each posting season-best times in an 8k of 26:01.5 and 26:32.
Derek Barney (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills) and
Ryan Smith (North Plainfield, N.J./North Plainfield) crossed the finish line inside the top-20, each with season-bests of 26:49.6 and 27:07 respectively.
Matt Salazar (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) and
Giordanovenchy Cerisier (North Wales, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) finished neck-and-neck, with Salazar's fastest time of the season (27:38.3) earning him a 22nd place finish, and Cerisier's season-best 27:41.9 good for 23rd.
Ryan Riley (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) also had a season-best time of 28:34.1.
Nate Burkhart (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) and
Teagan Fortna (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) rounded out the Golden Bears lineup.
Kutztown will now set its sights on the PSAC Championships on Friday, Oct. 25, back at Bloomsburg University with plenty of positive confidence and momentum after Saturday's race.
