KU Game Notes | Live Stats | Live Video | Audio

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's basketball had its three-game win streak snapped in its last game over the weekend and will now return home to take on Edinboro University, a team that has won six straight. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Keystone Arena in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game.

The Golden Bears (6-8 overall, 4-3 PSAC) were upended in a PSAC East first-place showdown at Bloomsburg last Saturday, Jan. 5, by a score of 81-74.

Sophomore Rylee Derr (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) led the way for Kutztown, tallying 19 points and three rebounds. She also connected from long distance for the 36th straight game. Classmate Zoe Zerman (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) recorded a season-high 11 points and added three rebounds, one block and one steal. Karen Lapkiewicz (Southampton, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) and Alexis Smith (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) also reached double-figures in scoring, adding 11 and 10 points respectively. Smith was also tied for the team-lead in rebounds with six.

Brianna Tarabocchia (Woodcliff Lake, N.J./Northern Valley Regional (Saint Peter's)) had eight points and six rebounds and Gabbi Wright (Elkins Park, Pa./Cheltenham) added six points and six boards. Taylor Thames (Colmar, Pa./North Penn) recorded four points, Kaylan Jackson (Germantown, Md./Clarksburg) had three, going 1-for-1 from three and Kalee Fuegel (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) tallied two points, four rebounds, tied a season-high with six assists and had five steals. She now has 35 steals on the season, ranking third in the PSAC.

The KU defense ranks fifth in the PSAC, allowing just 64.9 points per game (ppg). It will need to come up strong once again as it takes on a Fighting Scots team that is tied at the top of the conference in scoring at 81.5 ppg.

Kutztown's offense ranks fifth in the PSAC with 7.3 made three-pointers per game and second overall with 102. Derr is averaging 18.4 ppg, eighth-best in the PSAC, an increase of 4.8 ppg from 2017-18. She has made 41 3-PTs this season, second in the PSAC. Lapkiewicz' average of 10.3 ppg is a career-high by 2.8 ppg for the junior, and ranks second on the team.

The two teams have split the last two meetings during the regular season, both at Edinboro. The Fighting Scots were ranked No. 15 nationally last season as it came away with the victory. KU edged out Edinboro 65-63 in the game prior back on Nov. 21, 2015.
