KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- Friday evening's highly anticipated match between top 20 nationally-ranked teams turned into a runaway for the 16th-ranked Kutztown University wrestling team.
The Golden Bears took 9-of-10 bouts in defeating No. 10 UNC Pembroke 34-1, before taking care of American International, 37-4, at the 2019 KU Duals inside O'Pake Fieldhouse.

#16 KUTZTOWN 34, #10 UNC PEMBROKE 1
Matt Wilde (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area (Ursinus)) and KU set the tone early, while UNC Pembroke unraveled in a match that was all Golden Bears (6-1).
Wilde upset fourth-ranked Nick Daggett with a 13-2 major decision at 125 pounds and his teammates fed off the early momentum.
Christopher Crane (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) edged Ronnie Pietro, 5-4, in the 133 bout and
Anthony Petril (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby (Ursinus)) got past Jonathan Miller, 9-7, at 141.
The Braves found themselves in an 11-point hole after being hit with a one-point team penalty during the 125-pound match. Even though Kaleb Warner got UNC Pembroke on the board with a decision at 149, the guests were docked another point for unsportsmanlike conduct, and trailed 10-1.
Kutztown made sure those points wouldn't factor into the outcome, anyway.
Chad Haegele's (Warrington, Pa./Archbishop Wood) 5-1 win at 157 started a run of six straight victories for the Maroon and Gold.
Connor Rogovich (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) (165) and
T.C. Warner (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley (Bloomsburg)) (174) both won by decision, top-ranked
Jeff Reimel (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) claimed an injury default victory at 184 and
James Meyer (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) earned a 5-1 decision over Marcus Montgomery at 197.
Seventh-ranked
Andrew Dunn Jr. (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic (Virginia Tech)) picked up a forfeit win to provide the final margin of victory.
