KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's basketball team got a game-high 28 points from  redshirt-junior guard Anthony Lee (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington), and had three others record double-digit scoring, but it was not enough as East Stroudsburg went over the century mark for the second straight meeting this season, as it ran past KU 102-91 Wednesday night on senior night in the final home Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) regular season game at Keystone Arena this season.

The Golden Bears (19-6 overall, 15-6) had four of their five starters score in double-figures, led by Lee's 28. Moe Williams (Townsend, Del./Life Center Academy) had 14, senior Ethan Ridgeway (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) tallied 13 and Max Wagner (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) added 11. But the Warriors (20-5, 17-4), who clinched the top seed in next week's PSAC Tournament, saw seven players record double-digits in points, and eight players score at least six points. With the loss, KU is solidified as the fourth-seed, and will host fifth-seed Bloomsburg University Monday, Feb. 26 in the first round. West Chester (21-5, 17-5), which won 78-59 vs. Shippensburg on Wednesday, will be the No. 2 seed, followed by No. 3 Shippensburg (20-6, 16-5), No. 4 Kutztown, No. 5 Bloomsburg and No. 6 Millersville.

Both teams came into the game riding winning streaks. Kutztown had its four-game run end with the loss, and ESU extended its streak to six with the victory, and has won nine-of-10.

Lee had 17 of his 28 points in the second half, and scored eight of KU's first 10 points of the first half in a stretch that helped cut a 49-41 halftime deficit, to within one at 52-51 with 17:30 remaining. Then Lee and Ridgeway tallied five points each in a 10-3 spurt over 90 seconds to pull within 81-77 with 8:20 to go. But the Warriors answered with a run of their own, scoring the next eight points, which they then extended to a 17-6 run to all but put the game away, ahead 98-83 with 3:49 left.

Before the game, Kutztown and head coach Bernie Driscoll honored its three seniors. Ridgeway finished the game with 13 points and nine assists in 30 minutes, after missing eight minutes in the first half because of a left shoulder injury. Rafiq Marshall (Philadelphia, Pa./Simon Gratz (Cheyney)) tallied five points and three rebounds, and tri-captain Demetrius Bennett (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh (Neumann)) contributed three points, one assist and one rebound.

Williams recorded his fourth straight double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. It is the first time a KU player has had four straight double-doubles since Eric Brennen during the 2011-12 season. Sophomore Oenis Medina (Reading, Pa./Reading (Shippensburg)) set new career-highs with seven points, on 3-for-3 shooting from the floor, and also grabbed a career-high six rebounds. Ricky Hicks (Coatesville, Pa./Polytech) tallied five points and two rebounds, and David Johnson (Dunellen, N.J./Dunellen) contributed five points, going 2-for-2 from the field.

Kutztown and East Stroudsburg entered the game one-two in the league in different categories, and did not disappoint. ESU was first in the PSAC in scoring (94.7 ppg) and tied for first in field-goal percentage (49.1). The Warriors shot 54.4 percent (37-of-68) from the floor and 50 percent (9-of-18) from three, while going over 100 points for the 10th time this season. The Golden Bears entered second in the PSAC in scoring (88.1 ppg) and tied for first in field goal percentage (49.1). They shot 51.5 percent (35-for-68), 33.3 percent (7-for-21) from the three-point line, but just 46.2 percent (12-for-26) at the foul line.

Kutztown hits the road for its final regular season game, Saturday, Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. at Lock Haven University.
