MILLSBORO, Del. – The 24th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team went 3-2 in its five matches on Saturday, improving its overall record to 5-5 after two days at the Hawk Classic, hosted by University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Kutztown opened its day splitting with its first two opponents, St. Francis Brooklyn and No. 11 North Carolina A&T, respectively. KU then defeated its third ranked team of the weekend, dropping 23rd-ranked Monmouth, 947-918.
After falling to Delaware State, the Golden Bears notched a win over Coppin State to close their day, 959-677, taking some momentum into tomorrow's final round best of seven Baker-style bracket.
Madison Burkert (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) delivered another solid day, bowling all 50 frames and posting a frame average of 19.4 pins per frame.
Keanna Delp (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) recorded a team-high frame average of 19.5 and
Angela Kozma (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) posted 19.04 pins per frame to make up the Golden Bear trio with 19-plus frame averages.
Kutztown will take on Mount Saint Mary's at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow, Nov. 18, to open the final day of the Hawk Classic with its next opponent to be determined pending that result.
